When using a condensing boiler, acidic condensate is produced. This acid poses a risk of consequential damage to sewage pipes and the environment.

A detached house with an average heating output of 20 kW produces approximately 2400 liters of acid per year. This equates to approximately 1.2 mm of pipe corrosion per year (e.g., on concrete pipes).
